Two buildings, Five Mascots: is China changing the concept of Olympics?

“One World One Dream,” or to showing the world a “New China, New Beijing, New Olympics.” – Ai Weiwei Beijing Olympic Stadium Designer.

The Olympics reflects to the modern revival of the ancient games held once every 4 years in a selected country, now the world’s eyes is on the Asia’s Dragon “China”.

With the central location for the 2008 Summer Olympics, the iconic 3.5B Yuan ( 17B Philippine Peso ) budget arena, created an awesome “Bird’s Nest” shape as stadium and giving China the credit in getting a major step in the construction of the showpiece stadium, China grabs foreign attention with the interlocking steel superstructure that gives the arena to support the events in the today’s summer Olympics.

Another awesome building structure that will be using the summer Olympics is the “Water Cube”

The 6.9M Yuan (44M Philippine Peso) National Swimming Center in Beijing which clad in pillows of ETFE, (a lightweight material akin to Teflon). Made the awesome Water Cube like structure. The events that will be host here is swimming and diving events for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Almost new concept in infrastructure showed by China, and here’s another new the Olympic in the Olympic History meet “Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni”:

“Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni” meaning welcome to Beijing is a combination of five Beijing Olympics’ Mascot (changing the usual 1-3 Summer Mascots).

Fuwa aka Friendlies (“good luck dolls”) like the Five Olympic Rings from which they draw their color and inspiration, Fuwa serves as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace — and good wishes from China — to children all over the world.

Sea’s Beibei the Fish, Forest’s Jingjing the Panda, Fire’s Huanhuan the Olympic Flame, Earth’s Yingying the Tibetan Antelope and Sky’s Nini the Swallow.

The following represents five elements of nature and China’s four most popular animals. With the creation of new concept Fuwa also embody both the landscape and the dreams and aspirations of people from every part of the vast country of China.

China’s new ideas in hosting the Olympics is a quite new and showing the World, China nor Beijing is a real deal as a Developing Country. With Volkswagen Green Fleet as the main option for the event transportation. Beijing is one city which the World has its eyes on.
